The following three retailers offer Valentine's Day fashion for affordable prices.

Valentine’s Day is swiftly approaching, and it’s a perfect opportunity to dress up, whether for a date, a party or just the day at school. Here are several options that look festive without resembling a decorated cupcake.

Banana Republic

Banana Republic has been showing a more muted palette this winter, with many of their pieces in shades of gray or subtle blues. However, there are still a few colors that pop: for example, their sleeveless fuchsia top is currently marked down to $24.99 (originally $60) and looks great paired with gray trousers and a snug sweater.

Fans of red will have to make do with Banana Republic’s current reddish-orange trend. A versatile look is their ruffle wrap dress (on sale for $79.99), which can take a girl from school to a party with a quick change of shoes and accessories.

Their jewelry is a must – affordable and always creative. A current standout is their double-strand mother of pearl fringe necklace ($54), a more modern take on traditional pearls. The delicate ivory tone will match any outfit.

GAP

The GAP is also promoting a lot of blue this season, but Valentine’s Day looks can still be found. Fans of pink have plenty of casual choices, from bright pink tees (around $20 each) to a swingy smocked skirt ($34.50). A good-for-school option is their ruffled cropped pants, in the palest of pinks, for $34.50.

Those that may want to keep color to a minimum can pair a neutral-colored outfit with GAP’s red suede ballet skimmers, a Valentine purchase that will last all year (and look especially fresh during the next holiday season), for $45.

Forever 21

Forever 21 has many affordable Valentine’s Day options. Their pale pink coiled sub tunic ($19,80) can be perfectly paired with jeans, Their pink neon rose tee ($12.80) has a funky graphic print of a large rose. For girls that may want the flower look without the pink hue, the t-shirt also comes in green and yellow.

Low-budget accessory lovers can turn to paint-splattered pink hoop earrings ($3.80), pink sunglasses ($5.80) or a chocolate cupcake key ring ($3.80).

Happy Valentine’s Day!

The best part about these clothing items is that they can be worn all year around, not simply on Valentine's Day. A pale pink top always look chic with denim, gray or black. Meanwhile, red becomes increasingly popular in the fall and Christmas. None of these purchases are one-time only. Wear them now, and wear them again and again.
