It’s that time of year again – time to purchase gifts for relatives, friends, acquaintances. Buying a gift for a teenage girl can sometimes be a challenge, especially for a picky teen, but there are numerous gift options that are fun, affordable and memorable.
Beauty Lover
Giving someone makeup is a lot like giving someone a pair of shoes – without knowing their exact preferences and style, it can backfire. No one wants to see their gift stuffed in the back of someone’s bathroom drawer for the rest of the year simply because it’s the “wrong” color or brand.
A safer alternative is to purchase a set of makeup brushes. Brushes are always needed to apply makeup properly, and many teens do not own a good set.

Tech Savvy

Like shoes and makeup, buying a novel for someone is rather subjective – will she enjoy it? Will she even read it? It’s tempting to want to pass along a favorite book, but unless one is sure of someone’s love of reading and genre, it may eventually end up in the Giveaway pile.
However, blank books (notebooks, journals) can make great gifts. They are also easy to find for every budget. Drugstores offer spiral notebooks in varying sizes with increasingly vibrant and beautiful covers. Stack a few together, wrap in tissue and tie a pen along with the ribbon.
For slightly pricier but immensely durable notebooks, Moleskine is a great brand. They can be found at most bookstores, or on their website. There are various sizes, some lined and some unlined, but the similarities between them all are the thick leather covers and nice pages. These are the notebooks that Ernest Hemingway and Henri Matisse preferred.
Most Moleskine notebooks have black covers, except for the Volant Notebooks which come in blue, green or pink (the covers of these are a bit thinner.) Standard price for the Pocket Notebooks ranges from $10 to $20, though they often can be found available in a three-pack for a discounted price.
