Turn the everyday routine of school into fun and organization with some interesting back-to-school items.

Every year schools distribute back-to-school supply lists. Many times students can be creative with some of the items on the list. This article outlines supplies to make school fun and creative.

Smencils Writing Instruments

Made from recycled newspapers and soaked in gourmet scents, Smencils are a unique type of pencil for school. Students can choose from various scents and types. Here are the scents available:

  • Bubble Gum
  • Cinnamon
  • Tropical Blast
  • Grape
  • Cotton Candy
  • Very Berry
  • Black Berry
  • Orange
  • Watermelon
  • Root Beer

Smencils are sold in a ten count package and 50 count tub. Students can choose from regular number two graphite or colored pencils.

Case-It Large Capacity Zipper Binder

This binder sells out of stores every year due to its organizational capacity. Both high school and college students like this item. Students should look for this specific binder as the company has many binders available.

The binder has a zipper surrounding the outside of the item. Once open the binder has two elements. The left hand side contains an expandable five tab file system. Students can use the file space to place loose worksheets, permission forms, and other papers. Also on this side is a zippered area to store pencils, pens, erasers, or other smaller school supplies.

The right hand side of the binder is an “O” three ring paper holder. Students can place looseleaf papers within the ring for note taking. A great tip is to also use file separators labeled with each class name. Notes can then be stored directly behind the separator. A compact three-hole punch can also be stored within the ring for easy organization.

Locker Accessories

Lockers do not have to be boring and inefficient. Today there are multiple items for lockers to keep life fun and organized at school. Here are some locker accessory ideas:

  • The Locker Ladder converts a locker in half lengthwise to create a school supply storage space and a coat and backpack space.
  • Magnetic Locker Wallpaper camouflages ugly, boring locker interior with a fun design.
  • Three-n-One Tri-Colored Foam Frame is divided into three areas: a mirror, dry-erase board, and corkboard. It is small and thin enough to fit on a locker door.

Graphing Calculator Accessories

Most high school math classes require a graphing calculator, which can mean some fun. Texas Instruments has created multiple accessories for students:

  • The TI Keyboard allows students to plug in their calculator to a keyboard for easy note-taking and document downloading.
  • Color Plate Slides attach to the calculator to enhance the color of the item.
  • Faceplates are available to change just the front section of item.
  • Games and computer programs are readily available on the internet to program into a graphing calculator.

Designer Book Covers

Students do not have to spend time cutting up a brown paper bag to make book covers. Book Sox is a company that designs stretchable book covers, and students can choose from multiple colors and designs. Designs include solid colors, unusual designs, 3-D designs, scented, and heat sensitive fabric that changes colors.

Students spend nearly six hours in school, which can lead to monotony. By adding some spice and fun into school supplies, students can add interest and sometimes even organization into their school life.
